Dan is a lifelong martial artist beginning with wrestling in elementary school. Dan was captain of his high school wrestling team both his junior and senior years. After wrestling in high school Dan found mixed martial arts at the age of 20 and began his amateur MMA career with a 14-0 record becoming the defending Minnesota amateur lightweight champion before turning professional. To begin his professional MMA career, he moved his training from his hometown of Mankato, Minnesota to the famous Minnesota Martial Arts Academy under legendary coach Greg Nelson. Dan began his professional career 6-0 including becoming regional lightweight champion before entering the national circuit fighting the best fighters from around the country as well as international fighters before joining the UFC in 2018. Dan competed three times in both the UFC and Bellator MMA as well as other high-profile promotions around the world. Dan has been coaching both fighters and everyday martial artists since he started training and has coached high levels fighters around the world in multiple promotions and countries. Along with the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, Dan has trained and coached world class fighters at Alliance MMA, Power MMA, The MMA Lab, and Fight Ready MMA.

He compiled a 13-3 record early in his career and had notable victories, including breaking the seven-fight winning streak of Jordan Griffin. In the UFC, Moret faced several tough opponents, including Gilbert Burns, Alex White, and Jared Gordon. Moret's fighting style is characterized by his submission skills, with a significant portion of his wins coming via submission. He continues to compete and train, showcasing his dedication to the sport.
